A seasoned expert in economics, financial strategy, and diplomacy, Mr. Imad N. Fakhoury currently serves as the South Asia Regional Director of IFC, the investment and asset-management arm of the World Bank Group. With a distinguished career spanning across successive governments, he brings invaluable insight and leadership to his current role, shaping impactful initiatives across the region. Mr. Fakhoury started out as a Policy Manager at UNDP, working his way to the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, serving as a Director of Research and Economic Affairs for 4 years.

Over the next decade, Fakhoury was one of the key architects of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone (ASEZA) in his capacity as the Deputy Chief Commissioner & Commissioner for Investment & Economic Development, and founder, chairman and CEO of the Aqaba Development Corporation. As a financial strategist and diplomat, Mr. Fakhoury has served as Governor of Jordan at the World Bank Group, the EBRD, the Islamic Development Bank Group, the Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank, and the Arab Fund for Economic & Social Development. He has also served as the Chairman of World Bank and IMF annual meetings and was the Global Director of Infrastructure Finance, PPPs and Guarantees Global Practice before starting in his current role as Regional Director at IFC.
